Mapping & photogrammetry SOP

Controls for grid missions, overlap, positioning, and data quality.

  • Define required ground sample distance, horizontal/vertical accuracy, coordinate reference system, deliverables and whether licensed surveying is implicated.
  • Choose altitude, speed, shutter, overlap/sidelap and terrain strategy from actual requirements.
  • Establish surveyed ground control and independent checkpoints when required; checkpoints are not fitting control points.
  • Automated grids remain inside VLOS, authorization, people/vehicle and battery limits.
  • Control lighting/shadows, rolling shutter, wind blur, reflective/water/texture-poor surfaces.
  • Validate coverage in field; process with documented CRS, camera model and settings.
  • Report checkpoint residuals, gaps and limitations. A clean-looking model is not proof of accuracy.
