Infrastructure inspection SOP

Standoff, obstruction, RF, and asset-owner controls for inspections.

  • Obtain owner/site safety authorization; coordinate energized equipment, lockout, rail/road, confined-space, fall and industrial hazards with responsible personnel.
  • Identify wires, magnetic/RF interference, GNSS multipath, thermal plumes, repetitive/reflective surfaces and turbulent structure flow.
  • Set standoff, zoom, route, alternate landing and lost-link behavior that cannot cause automatic collision with the asset.
  • Use a payload operator when detailed observation would cause screen fixation.
  • Abort on unstable positioning, link/GNSS warning, personnel entry or inadequate standoff.
  • Preserve defect location/orientation and image traceability; distinguish observation from engineering conclusion and route findings to a qualified professional.
